Bears’ ‘Hard Knocks’ recap: Caleb Williams reveals Olympic dreams after broadcast delay

Broadcasters hoping to see behind the scenes BearsAfter Saturday’s victory – and even a visit to DJ Moore’s Museum of Ice Cream a few weeks ago – they had to wait 75 minutes on Tuesday night.

A week ago, those who had the Max app on their phone, tablet or TV were able to watch the first episode of the series. “Difficulties” live, just like cable viewers. As of 8 p.m. Tuesday night, the show still hadn’t aired on the app. Max released a statement saying, “the episode will be available on the app soon.” It eventually aired 75 minutes after its start time.

Those watching the show live — or eventually watching on the broadcaster — said quarterback Caleb Williams is interested in playing flag football in the Olympics. The 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles will host the sport for the first time. Last year, NFL executive vice president Peter O’Reilly said the league was willing to work with the NFLPA to allow current and former players to play.

The episode featured security guard Jonathan Owens speaking at a team meeting as he watched his wife, Simone Biles, the world’s top gymnast, win three gold medals in Paris.

Later, cornerback Jaylon Jones asked Owens if Biles was like LeBron James and Michael Jordan combined. Owens settled on a different comparison.

“Just like Serena (Williams),” he said.

The episode highlighted cornerback Jaylon Johnson’s practice battles against receiver Keenan Allen and Williams’ developing connection with first-round rookie Rome Odunze.

For the second week in a row, the episode was more family-friendly than past “Hard Knocks” episodes — perhaps a product of the Bears being the final cut of the episode. Surprisingly, there was no cursing for the second week in a row. There was also ice cream: the series followed Moore’s family on a trip to the Museum of Ice Cream downtown.

“It’s a dangerous day off,” he said.

“Hard Knocks” host Liev Schreiber, who made a catch during Saturday’s 33-6 win, said Moore looked “softer than a bowl of soft ice cream.”
