General information:

• Address (City, State, Zip Code),
• Telephone number,
• And an alternative phone number (if applicable)

Obituary Notice Specification:

• Name of the Deceased Person,
• Death Text,
• A photo in JPEG or PDF format is preferred, TIF and other files are also accepted, we will contact you if there is any problem with the photo.
• Advertisement Publication Dates
• There is a discount for running multiple days, but it must be scheduled on the first run date for this to apply.
• If a photo is used, it must be used for both days for the discount to be valid, please contact us for detailed information.

Policies:

Confirmation of Death:

The name and phone number of the funeral home/cremation society are required to publish obituaries. We must contact the funeral home/cremation society that made the arrangements during business hours to verify the death. If the deceased’s body was donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Legacy Program or a similar program, the phone number is required for verification.

Please allow enough time to contact them, especially during weekend limited business hours.

A death certificate may also be accepted for this purpose, but only one of these two options is sufficient.

Guestbook and External Websites:

When placing a print or online obituary, we are not permitted to reference other media sources with a guestbook or obituary located elsewhere. Instead, we may place a funeral home website or a family email for contact; if you have any questions about this, please contact us.

Obituary Process:

Once your post is complete, we will fax or email a proof for review before it is published in the newspaper. This proof will include the price and the days the ad is scheduled to run.

Please review the evidence carefully. We must be notified of any errors or changes to be published in Pioneer Press by each day’s deadline.

We are not responsible for any errors that may occur after final proofing after publication.

Online:

All obituaries appear at: TwinCities.com with a permanent online guestbook presence. If you would like the online presence removed, you can contact us to remove the guestbook online. Changes to an online obituary can be made through the obituary desk. Call us for further questions.

Payment Procedure:

All obituaries require prepayment before publication by the deadline listed below. Please call 651-228-5263 Once you have received the payment proof and approved its content, you can send it to us with your payment information.

Credit card: Due to PCI (Payment Card Industry) regulations, only payments by phone are accepted

Money Order/EFT: Check by phone. Please include your routing number and account number.

Advance: Accepted by us FRONT COUNTER Monday – Friday 08:00 – 15:30

Prices:

• The minimum fee for the first 10 lines is $162.
• Each line after the first 10 lines is $12.20.
• If the ad is less than 10 lines, a minimum fee of $162 will be charged.
• On the second journey date, the fare per line is $8.20, starting from the first line.
• For example: If the first run date was 20 rows, the cost would be $164.
• The daily fee for each published photo is $125.
• Example: A 4 photo fee of $500 will be charged for 2 photos in 2 days in the newspaper.

Please respect the deadlines to ensure your obituary is published on the requested day.

MEMORIAL (NOT DEATH) REQUEST

Unlike an obituary, Memoriam posts are memorials to a loved one who has passed away. Fees for a memoriam are different than obituaries.
