Jason Momoa and Danielle Brooks are the new kids on the block in the trailer for the ‘Minecraft’ movie

Colorful cubic world Minecraft comes to life.

First teaser trailer “A Minecraft Movie” has been announced for the upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular film, starring Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, and Jack Black.

In the trailer, Momoa, wearing a crazy shoulder-length wig and messy bangs, steps into the pixelated Minecraft world with Brooks, “Wednesday” star Emma Myers and Sebastian Eugene Hansen.

As they embark on a magical adventure, they encounter a variety of characters from Minecraft, including bah-ing bleats, evil piggies, and a random guy named Steve (Black).

“You can achieve anything you dream of here,” Black says in the clip, as The Beatles’ song “The Magical Mystery Tour” plays in the background.

The official synopsis for the film reads as Momoa’s Garrett “Garbage Man” Garrison and his three misfit friends “find themselves grappling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a whimsical, cubic wonderland built on imagination.”

In order to return home, their adventures challenge them to “be brave and reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the skills they need to succeed in the real world.”

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, “A Minecraft Movie” is directed by Jared Hess, who previously helmed “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Masterminds.” It’s the first real-action adaptation of the popular video game that was released in 2011. (Warner Bros. Pictures, like CNN, is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.)

The Minecraft video game allows users to: to discover and create unique worlds as you build anything you want with virtual 3D blocks.

“A Minecraft Movie” will be released in theaters on April 4, 2025.
