Minda Corp signs licensing deal with China’s Sanco to enter EV market, ET EnergyWorld

New Delhi: Automotive components maker Minda Corporation Ltd on Wednesday said it has signed a technology licensing agreement with China’s Sanco Connecting Technology to provide electrical distribution system solutions for the electric vehicle market. Sanco Connecting Technology is a leader in EV connectivity systems.

Under the agreement, Minda Corp and Sanco will locally develop products such as EV connection systems, charging gun assemblies with sockets and accessories, busbars, cell contact systems, power distribution units (PDU) and battery distribution units (BDU), the company said in a statement.

“This agreement will enhance Minda Corporation’s product portfolio in the growing EV sector in the Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) space.”

Commenting on the partnership, Aakash Minda, Executive Director, Minda Corporation said, “By offering next-generation EV solutions, with a commitment to achieving successful localization, we will deliver greater value to our customers, increasing the overall kit value across vehicle segments.” Zhijian Zeng, Chairman, Sanco Connecting Technology (Guangdong) Co., Ltd, said that the company has chosen Minda Corporation as its strategic partner to expand its global footprint.

“This collaboration will significantly increase Sanco’s presence in India’s growing EV market,” Zeng added.

Leveraging Minda Corporation’s strong relationships with global automakers and extensive local manufacturing and engineering capabilities, “we aim to provide world-class, technology-enabled solutions to Indian OEMs,” Zeng said.
