Chandler police mourn death of retired patrolman K-9 Bako

CHANDLER, AZ (AZ Family) — The Chandler police community was deeply saddened after saying goodbye to one of its retired police dogs.

Police said K-9 Bako died Tuesday but did not say how he died.

He worked as a patrol dog for the department for 10 years and also did bomb detection.

Bako helped save the lives of retired Sergeant Mike Armentrout and retired Police Officer Ron Emary.

Police said the dog “served the Chandler community with unwavering loyalty and courage.”

“His courage, dedication and comradeship will never be forgotten,” the ministry said.
