New drought monitoring devices launched for Heartland

(KFVS) – We need some rain in the Heartland.

New drought monitoring devices released on Thursday, September 5Several areas are in “abnormally dry” to moderate drought.

At least half of Illinois is considered “abnormally dry.”

The same can be said for Missouri, where some areas are experiencing moderate drought.

In Kentucky, much of the state is also in “abnormally dry” or moderate drought.

It seems unlikely that we will get some relief this week.

First Alert Chief Meteorologist Grant Dade said: The chance of rain still looks slim On Friday, a 20 percent front is expected in the north and 40 percent in the south.

A few thunderstorms may develop.

No severe storms are currently expected in the Heartland.
