Flexispot E7 Plus Standing Desk review

The Flexispot E7 Plus is an extremely sturdy standing desk that is a valuable investment for your health and workflow when working in your office. Match.

Over the last few years, innovations in standing desks and the introduction of standing desks into everyday workspaces (both at home and in the office) have become the norm.

Whether it’s for posture, comfort, or health reasons, standing desks seem to be here to stay. As someone who typically spends a significant amount of time at my desk, usually sitting on a 27-inch Xencelabs drawing tablet, and whose posture is far from ideal, I was intrigued by the idea of switching to a standing desk.

Among the manufacturers offering standing desk options suitable for every need in the market, Flexispot stands out as a brand that works to create durable, functional and more affordable products in the competitive market.

Flexispot E7 Plus Standing Desk – What’s in the Box?

The E7 Plus comes in three separate boxes: two separate boxes for the desktop and leg components, instructions, and electronics.

I know only a few of us will appreciate this, but the packaging and shipping of these boxes is next level. I have never seen anything padded and secure enough to hold the size and weight of a standing desk. Surreal.

After opening the box, I was happy to find printed instructions that included the table among the components. Many companies are moving toward QR code-only online guides or assembly videos on their sites or YouTube.

Maybe I’m old fashioned but I like having paper instructions which I will almost always misplace, swear at and find after 10 minutes of searching. I respect the old ways.

Flexispot E7 Plus Standing Desk – Assembly and Build Quality

The first thing you need to know about the E7 Plus is this: It’s heavy. Very heavy.

This is a natural side effect of standing desks, as the nature of the motors and materials means that everything has to be a little stronger. However, this can make the desk more difficult to assemble and transport.

I live alone and while the instructions are clear and concise, this is still a two-person task. However, I had to get it done. Carrying the heavier components for assembly was a bit risky.

Fortunately, the installation process was very easy and the customer was only asked to provide a Phillips-head screwdriver or a power drill with a Phillips-head bit. Flexispot provides all the necessary tools, screws, and—make your own—cable clips for cable management.

I recommend using a power drill, even with a power drill, as driving the mounting screws that attach the frame to the bamboo tabletop requires some muscle. Doing this by hand would be a challenge. Save yourself the pain.

As for build quality, there’s nothing about the E7 Plus that feels cheap or flimsy. The brackets, legs, desktop, and reinforcement bars all feel strong and durable. This desk feels like it could handle long-term daily use without any issues.

The Flexispot E7 Plus Standing Desk can carry equipment that weighs a lot.

The E7 Plus supports up to 240kg in weight and accommodates different heights and needs with heights ranging from 26″ to 51″.

I honestly can’t figure out what someone would put in a standing desk that would need to support 540 lbs. But there must be a need in the market and I like the added security.

If I ever have to do a show as a stage magician, I feel comfortable knowing that the E7 Plus will help me with my levitation trick.

Flexispot E7 Plus Standing Desk review – Customization

Flexispot offers a variety of customization options, including desktop materials, colors, curved and non-curved desktops, accessories, and dimensions. On the Flexispot site, I saw solid wood, particle board, bamboo, and dark bamboo options, along with add-ons like built-in wireless chargers, desktop drawers, keyboard trays, and lockable desk drawers.

Each of these add-ons are priced individually and allow customers to build the E7 Plus that works best for them, although I will admit that I miss having drawers on the E7 Plus. Drawers are not standard for this model and must be purchased separately and added to the table.

The modular nature of the table and accessories is nice, but the final price tag can increase exponentially depending on the final build.

I chose the 55″ x 28″ bamboo desktop to match my office furniture, it looks great. The legs and frame are black, and the bamboo top is clean and sturdy.

I also liked how clean everything is on the E7 Plus, thanks to the small size of the control panel and the included brackets for cable management.

Living with the Flexispot E7 Plus Standing Desk

After setting up the E7 Plus for work, I took a photo and placed my two largest pieces of equipment on the table.

Yes, this is purely to show off the size and real-world scale of the hardware inside the E7 Plus. I ended up moving everything, including a hub, an external hard drive, and a monitor swing arm mount, to the table.

While the desk handled everything wonderfully, I didn’t perform the sacred act of cable management. There’s no way I’m going to show you that shame.

What I noticed in my first few days working on the E7 Plus was that I had to get used to standing while working. Standing desks were new to me, but the solution I found was to synchronize standing and sitting with my working. Apple Watch warnings.

Time to get up? Alright. I press the button to move the table to my saved preset in the controls and I’m ready to go.

The controls are simple and easy. I used the up and down controls to set my perfect sitting height for my back as an illustrator and linked it to a preset.

Next, I found my best standing height for my six-foot height and saved it as preset number two. The whole process took minutes and is now as easy as pressing a button.

Controls of the Flexispot E7 Plus Standing Desk

The control panel also offers child locks and an additional USB port for charging devices. These are small things, but I appreciate them.

There is a very slight motor noise as you raise and lower the table, but it is low and the speed of height adjustment is exceptional. It is quick and mostly silent.

Flexispot E7 Plus Standing Desk review – Cost

At the time of writing, my 55″ x 28″ bamboo desktop, the E7 Plus, is selling for $969.00 on Flexispot’s site. During the time I was writing this review, I saw a flash sale on the site that brought the price down to $659.00 for a limited time.

By any standards, it’s not a cheap entry point into moving using a standing desk. With the E7 Plus, it’s going to be an investment.

If you’re new to standing desks, there’s a chance you won’t like the experience at all — a real concern to weigh before investing.

Again, the E7 Plus is a pretty solid desk and unless you’re using the standing feature every day, the desk is likely to last you for many years.

Flexispot E7 Plus Standing Desk Review: Verdict

Ultimately, it comes down to whether the E7 Plus is worth the investment. In my opinion, the answer is yes.

This is a gorgeous presentation and would be a welcome addition to any home or office.

There’s a significant upfront investment involved, especially if you’re used to Ikea desk prices, but if you can afford the purchase, the E7 Plus won’t disappoint.

The only downside for me is the additional weight and logistics required to assemble and transport it safely, but beyond that, I can’t find fault anywhere else.

  • Simple installation
  • Can support 540 pounds
