Pollsters say 75% of Russians trust Putin – Society & Culture

MOSCOW, September 6. /TASS/. According to a survey conducted and published by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) from August 26 to September 1, the Russian people’s trust in President Vladimir Putin is at the level of 75.5%.

1,600 participants aged 18 and over participated in the survey.

“When asked directly whether they trust Putin, 75.5% of respondents said yes (down 0.2 points). The percentage of respondents who approved of the president’s job performance was 72% (down 0.4 points),” the pollster said.

47.9% of respondents said they approve of the way the Russian government is running the country (down 0.2 points), while 51.7% approve of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s job performance (down 0.5 points). 59.2% of respondents said they trust Mishustin (down 1.5 points).

As for the leaders of the parties represented in parliament, 32.6% of those surveyed said they trust Gennady Zyuganov, leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) (up 2.2 points), 25.3% trust Sergey Mironov, leader of the Fair Russia-For Truth party (up 0.8 points), 19.5% trust Leonid Slutsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) (down 1.5 points), and 8.2% trust Alexei Nechayev, leader of the New People’s Party (up 0.9 points).

The Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) also conducted a survey on the subject. According to the results of the survey, the level of trust in Putin among Russians remained unchanged during the week and remained at 76%.

“When asked if they trust Putin, 76% of respondents said ‘yes’ (no change). Also, a majority of the population, or 78%, approves of the way the president is running the country (also no change),” the pollster said.

According to FOM, 51% of respondents say they approve of the way the Russian government is running its business (down 1 point), while 56% approve of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s job performance (up 2 points).
